We recently went on a road trip to Denver, CO and let me tell you, I made sure to STOCK up on some activities for my girls to keep busy. It was slightly chaotic because if you are a parent of multiples, you already know, “What you do/get for one, you have to do/get for the other”.
So I did what any mom does, I took off to Pinterest and Amazon to determine what I could order ASAP for a smooth sailing trip. Here is a round-up of what I ordered.
Pop its
These pop it toys are majorly popular right now and I can see why. It’s just super satisfying to pop all the bubbles and the flip it over to try again. My girls like to keep these in the car that way even on short trips they are handy to keep them busy preventing the bored whining.
LCD Doodle tablet
Both girls have one of these doodle tablets and they both love them. Now the only mistake I made was I got them each a different color which inevitably caused them to fight for the each others. So learn from my mistake and buy all of them the same color and just label them with their names.
This doodle board specifically has a little bungee cord that attaches to the pencil and board so you can keep them together. Can I also say that these are super satisfying to erase at the click of a button. Just be careful with the battery that is installed in these because they are super dangerous if a kiddo ingests them.
water wows
These reusable water coloring pads are major hits with kids of any age. Both girls were entertained with these for a good amount of time and all I had to do was help them refill their water pens when needed. Pro tip: Keep a straw handy that way you can trap water in the straw and transfer it to the pen easily rather than trying to pour it.
They have tons of different themed water wow pads and they come in a variety pack like the 3-pack I bought.
Reusable Sticker books
These reusable sticker books were a MAJOR hit! Both of the girls were entertained with these books for a good majority of the trip. They are great because you can stick and unstick them as much you want. Just like the water wows, they come in many different themes and multipacks.
Busy Book - Babies/Toddlers
I got this busy book specifically for Iyla being that she has a short attention span with toys. She is obsessed with babies and so this busy book was perfect for her. It’s pretty much a little dolly that you put into little pockets creating different scenes. I can’t recommend this busy book enough for littles.
Secret Decoder - Bigger kids
As for the bigger kiddos, this secret decoder kit was a lot of fun for Alina. They sell the books individually but you can also get it in a kit like this one. She took this on her second trip to Denver with her grandparents and I believe it went well.
SEAT BELT PILLOW
Getting comfy in the car can be a hassle for kids and we didn’t want to haul an entire pillow, I got Alina this seatbelt pillow. It velcros onto the seatbelt and is super soft and comfy. I don’t know about you guys, but I always get anxious or feel bad when I see my kiddos necks all cranked when sleeping in the car.
There are a ton of different fidget/road trip activities out there that it was super difficult to not go overboard buying all the things. I definitely would have got a couple more things just to ensure that they wouldn’t lose interest in an activity so fast. We did take their iPads/tablets which they really didn’t reach for as much as the activities.
If you have other road trip toys or activities that you swear by, please comment below, I would love to check them out!
