My Process with Journaling & FREE 28 Days of Journal Prompts

January 31, 2021

If you read my last post, you already know that I absolutely love to journal as a way to help my depression and anxiety. I first started journaling while I was pregnant with Iyla. It was added into my morning routine which you can read here.

To start off with, you can buy a specific journal to use or even just a notebook. Also if you don’t want to keep the journals, you can also just use a random piece of paper and throw it away after.

My Process

My process has changed minimally since I have had Iyla but it still works the same.

Before I had Iyla, my process was to wake up and journal first thing before even looking at my phone. This was beneficial in starting my day off appropriately in which I could start with a clear mind first thing in the AM.

My current process is to complete my journaling sometime in the morning when I know I won’t have any interruptions. Of course having Iyla running around that tends to make it difficult but I try my best to get at least 5 minutes to journal. Some effort is usually better than no effort!

While completing the brain dump I also would write out how I wanted my day to go, what goals I want to accomplish and what could be bothering me at that moment. There were also days in which I write out what I envision for my future and write it in present tense as if I was already living that way.

I’d also like to remind you guys that there is no right or wrong way to do this. Not sure if any of you did this in school but I remember there were days in class in which we would complete free writes in our journals to start our day. At the time I never understood the process but I see it now. Such a helpful experience to put you in the right frame of mind for the day!

Journal Prompts

Another way you can go about journaling is to utilize journal prompts. You can just do a google search or even find some on Pinterest.

Being that we are starting a new month, I made a 28 day journal prompt sheet that you can print and use for the month of February!

I’m so excited for you guys to try journaling and use the prompts I came up with! Make sure to tag me on IG and share how it’s going! Love you guys!
