What We’ve Been Up To: Life Update

January 28, 2021

HELLO AND HAPPY 2021 FRIENDS!

I want to start off by saying I’m sorry for my absence over the last few months. I honestly felt like I was in a little rut at the end of 2020. Things got so crazy with prepping for the holidays, then at the beginning of 2021 I started doing some inward reflection so to speak. I feel like I am finally in a place to get back into my blogging regularly! YAY!

I felt like it was necessary to give you guys a little bit of a life update on what has been happening around here since the end of last year til now. Especially since we are already getting to the end of January very soon.

First and foremost I have to say……..

We got Engaged!

If you’ve been around for a while you know that Daniel and I have been together for 11 years, soon to be 12. Feel free to check out the post about our 10 Year Anniversary to see our glow up.

But back to the engagement! We got engaged Christmas morning which I definitely was not expecting it. It was a special moment being able to experience it with just us and our girls. So now we get to start the fun of planning something! I honestly haven’t set any concrete details yet but I will more than likely take you girls along for the ride!

Celebrated Alina’s 7th Birthday

My baby officially turned 7 and I am still in disbelief! We had a little quarantine birthday celebration as a family. I wanted to make sure that she still felt like it was a big deal celebration even though we couldn’t throw her a party. She had requested a Mermaid themed birthday so that’s what I worked around. I made her this super cute balloon arch that both she and Iyla were obsessed with.

BirthdayBalloons

Here is where you can find the balloons I got and I just used a hand pump and Youtube to get it all put together. Definitely easier than I thought it would be.

We started her day off with some Cinnamon Rolls for breakfast and she chose to have Olive Garden To-Go for dinner. Ended the night with some Chocolate cake and Ice Cream.

She also got a new big girl bike as her gift which she picked out. She is very happy with her new wheels!

(STILL) Working and learning from home

Of course we are still living through this lovely pandemic. So I am still working from home full-time and Lina is still remotely learning as well. We are definitely trying to get through this extremely hard phase as best as we can.

All you other mama’s that are juggling all the things, I am in that same boat with you girl! We just have to keep rowing in our boats filled with tears haha.

Mental and physical health

This is probably the most accurate answer to what I have been up to lately. Taking care of my mental and physical health has been something that I’ve been trying to be more mindful about working on since last year but have been making it more of a priority.

Ever since I was diagnosed with Postpartum Depression (you can read about it here) I have felt like it still comes and goes and I have not fully recovered. It’s more of a work in progress at this point.

The pandemic also hasn’t been really helpful either. In a nutshell, I am confined in my house a majority of the time while balancing working full-time, remote learning with Alina, taking care of Iyla, tending to the home and all the other things that come with life.

To be blunt, balancing everything really sucks and I noticed over the last couple months that it takes a HUGE toll on my mental health. That being said, I have been studying myself and determining what triggers me, helps me and so on. I highly recommend determining what are your triggers so you can further determine what helps.

Let me know if you guys want a blog post all about my process, triggers, etc.

I definitely have felt like taking a break from social media has been extremely helpful. Don’t get me wrong, I still scroll and look at it but I am also more mindful about how FREQUENTLY and how LONG I am on. If I am just aimlessly scrolling I immediately will find something else to occupy my mind such as a podcast, reading, audiobook, color by number app, etc.

Now that you’re caught up. . .

I’m excited to get back to blogging and sharing all the things with you! We’ll talk soon!
