Skincare has always been an obsession of mine. I mean, who doesn’t want clear skin?! So I am constantly testing out new products, changing my practices and just seeing what works.
I also want to start off by saying that my skin type is combination. BUT it definitely lays on the dry side more often. With that being said, I try to base the products I use as moisturizing than oil reducing. Some of these products I have been using for years, be sure to check out a previous skincare faves I posted about here.
Products I Use & Love
- Bliss Beauty Makeup Melt Jelly Cleanser
- Silicone Face Exfoliating Brush (AMAZING TOOL!)
- Kieh’ls Ultra Facial Cream
- Vitamin C Oil
- Pure Rosehip Seed Oil
- Tula Rose Glow & Get It Eye Balm
- Neutrogena Makeup Wipes (Unscented)
The Deets
One of the game changing steps I take is I stopped using my Makeup Wipes on my entire face. Let me just repeat that: STOP USING THE MAKEUP WIPES ON YOUR ENTIRE FACE – TRUST!
The only area on my face that I use my make up wipes is my eyes. Wiping your dirty makeup all over your face with the same wipe keeps bacteria on your face rather than removing it.
Also to prevent from wasting wipes, cut it in half and you can store the other half back in the package. So now there are double the wipes and you’re saving money.
So what do I use to take off my make up you ask? My Bliss Beauty Makeup Melt Jelly Cleanser. I start off by slightly wetting my face, put one pump of cleanser on a silicone exfoliator and lightly scrub my face.
Now this part is important, instead of rinsing off the product with your hands, use a small soft towel. The key is to use a new towel every night and don’t use the same area on the towel with every swipe, so rotate it.
Every few days after cleansing, I will use a face mask depending on what I feel like my skin is needing.
Then I gently massage my Kiehl’s Ultra Face Cream Moisturizer on my whole face and neck. Last steps are to apply my serums and eye balm if needed.
My Final Thoughts
Being consistent with a skincare routine has been vital to keeping my skin clear. There were times where I would just wipe my face down with a makeup wipe and I would break out and create even more problems.
Focusing on keeping my skin clean and youthful is always the goal rather than having to cover up the issues. I do still deal with some redness, but I use masks and the serums to help brighten and even out my skin tone.
Let me know in the comments if you guys have any ride or die products that I should try out!
