Hi beauties! So I am all about getting pampered with a mani and pedi but everyone is in different situations. I personally never can find the time to actually go and get it done. Some are on a budget and can’t be spending X amount of money on a pampering session. Or there’s the struggle of having little fart(s) stuck to your side 24/7. With that being said, I’m all about finding different DIY’s and Pinterest hacks to try out because:
- I love Pinterest
- I love to research and find hacks which eventually get shared with all of you.
So as I was Pinterest surfing, I decided to look up an at home pedi to rid feet of dry/cracked skin. I found a couple of different hacks that were intriguing so here they are:
Hack #1: Mixture of 1 C Listerine, 1 C Vinegar, 2 C Warm/Hot Water – Soak for 15-20 mins.
On the search results, there were multiple Snapchat images that showed one foot with a huge layer of dry skin on the heel and the other foot was completely smooth. As I read through, the description says after you soak your feet in the mixture, “dry skin will practically fall off your foot”. Now I don’t know about you, but I can’t help but think that is a pretty big statement and I NEEDED to see if it was true or not.
So here I go getting my mixture together and I sit outside soaking my feet while watching Alina play and Daniel watching me being weird testing the hack haha! When it came time for the big reveal to find out if my dead skin would just wipe off with a towel……it did not! WA WA WA!!! So instead of soaking my foot for nothing, I got my pumice stone foot brush and just scraped my pruney feet and buffed the skin like I normally would.
Tip: Keep a foot pumice stone in the shower that way after you finish all the shower business, you can quickly buff out your feet that have been “soaking” in the water and you’ll be good to go.
I will say having the feet soaking for so long helped make the process a little easier to buff, but definitely did not live up to what the hack said. I was so excited to see if it would live up to the description, but unfortunately that was not so.
Hack #2: Rub Vick’s (the Hispanic healer haha) all over your feet and put socks on overnight.
I definitely do not mind the smell of Vick’s, but rubbing your entire foot down….you smell like a humidifier haha! Daniel of course had to roast me and say I was smelling like a grandma – whatev though because obviously the grandma’s know the healing powers of Vick’s LOL!
I’m gonna be completely honest and say I lasted a couple of hours with the socks on, but the mixture of the Vick’s and the warm socks just toasted my feet up and I had to take them off!
Overall, my feet initially were not that dry or cracked and now they are slightly better but not nail salon soft. So looks like I will be scheduling a visit for a pedi this weekend. I am so glad I still tried these out because we pin all these different pins and automatically think they work, but sometimes the outcome is not what we think. Well guys until next time!!
