Fun & Easy Pre-School Valentine's
Hey Everyone! So every year when Valentine's Day rolls around, I try to take control (while I can) of creating a fun valentine with Alina rather than going to the store for the little cards. Definitely not bashing the store bought Valentine's but I personally like to look at these holidays as a creative outlet for myself and making it a fun experience for Alina to help make them. Last year we put together goody bags with bubbles and lollipops. This year, Alina's school has come out with a policy restricting parents from providing any sweets to the kids. They allow you to give it with your gifts, but no sweet desserts for parties and if they receive candy it has to be taken home to be consumed. So I decided I wouldn't even fuss with the policy or creation of tantrums.
I Pinterest surfed for a few days to get some inspo and was initially looking into getting some little noisemakers, but when I got to Party City I juggled through a few ideas resulting in some little slinky's.
Alina's class is 19 kids strong counting her, so I bought 2 packs of 12 Slinky's for $3.99 each - $8 bucks with tax is a pretty good deal if you ask me. I also stopped at Michael's Craft Store to get some supplies for the tags. I picked up a pack of 20 pre-cut heart tags that also came with yarn threaded through them as well (def made life easier) and also got a red sharpie to write with. Pricing for the tags was $3.99 and $1.69 for the sharpie. I got a 40% off coupon applied to the tags and a 20% off the entire store coupon applied to the sharpie resulting in paying $4.02 which includes the tax. Total pricing for these Valentine's was $12 and they were so easy to put together.
When I brought everything home, Alina was super excited to help me put them together. One thing to know about Alina is she loves to help, especially if it involves a project for school. In order to include her into the project, I asked her to draw something on each valentine tag to make it more personable, so she drew smiley faces and suns on all her friends tags. While she was doing that, I busily wrote out the Valentine saying and tied the twine through each slinky.
This project took me probably about 45 minutes and was very low stress. I decided this year I was going to be keeping it simple and fun! I know her friends are going to love these; Alina got to keep the remaining slinky's and she couldn't be happier about it! Thank you guys for stopping in to see this post and supporting this journey of mine. Also I would like to apologize about the image quality because the lighting was not the best due to finishing this in the evening.
